CHEF-EXPLORER-‘A TASTE OF THE WORLD’ TOURS
STAGE 1: PROPOSEL'S FOR CULINARY AND CULTURAL TRAVEL PACKAGES
Remember most of my Tours have a predominant ‘foodie’ theme. You will see the sights that you want, but also indulge in the best (as in most authentic, not most expensive!) food that has a story from that part of the world, is cultural and using as much local ingredients as possible. Hopefully, supporting the environment too. Add onto this potential cooking classes, (which is where I especially come in!) and maybe even come away with a recipe book I will work on too! Also, lots of FUN is one of my main ‘ingredients’!
TOUR 1: THE GOLDEN TRIANGLE OF INDIA
I spent a week researching and experiencing this in January this year (which is a great time to go North in India as it’s not too hot and is cool at night). My wife and I experienced the craziness of Delhi, the wonderful Agra and the Taj Mahal as well as visiting a local village, where I helped with the cooking!
Then onto Jaipur and Rajasthan where I really got into the food. I managed to find a great driver called Dara that we could trust and has such wonderful local knowledge. We got to know him and his family so much that we were invited to his village where I again did the cooking! With the help of his lovely Niece and her kitchen pf course.
*Watch the videos on my VIDEO & MEDIA Page, to see some live cooking as well as me in an Indian home kitchen and also see how Chapati are made fresh, even grinding their own wheat!
Chef Explorer has teamed up with Dara, to give you the same experience. We are partnered to work on the cooking aspects, but if you just want to go on just the Golden Triangle drive, then contact me and we can meet for coffee to go through the itinerary and details of what to expect. Meanwhile, you can check out Dara’s link below:
Meanwhile, I am working on an article -Blog with more photos, videos and details of our trip. Details soon as its published.

TOUR 2: TAPAS OF SPAIN & PORTUGAL
I toured PORTO in 2010 in search of food and fun, and then again more extensively again, in JULY 2014, to 'EXPLORE SOME MORE!
Porto is beautiful and a great base, especially to explore the wineries like Sandeman for absolutely delicious port tasting! I travelled to Lisbon to experience the famous Alfama district and Fado music. Plus the Medieval city of Coimbra and one of Europe’s oldest Universities. Then onto Northern Spain to Galicia heading via Valladolid onto the Basque capital of San Sebastian, for many, the culinary capital of Spain, to explore their world famous 'Pintxos'-Basque Tapas Bars! Or south to Seville in Spain and Evora and Sintra in Portugal where I dined in 2014..And finally to Barcelona to check out how far their famous La Sagrada Familia has progressed!
* Optional side track into the Pyrenees and independent Andorra to taste (among other things) a traditional Escudella stew, a dish that I just cooked the other month, on my A-Z of World Culinary series.
In my previous tour I researched and created Recipes from Barcelona and Lisbon to teach back in Australia at my TASTE OF SPAIN, TASTE OF PORTUGAL & THE TAPAS OF SPAIN & PORTUGAL COOKERY COURSE'S. All classes have been BEST SELLERS throughout 2015 to 2018!!
TOUR 3: THE CHRISTMAS MARKETS OF EUROPE
I created my own Mid-European ‘Triangle (sort of) of Travel’ by exploring the Christmas Markets of five countries. Starting in Vienna, Austria with its magnificent Grandeur and famous ‘Christkindlmarkt’. Then we travelled to experience lesser known but equally as festive markets, firstly across the border to nearby Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.
From there we spent the longest time and Christmas itself in Budapest, Hungary. Winter warming on Christmas Day consisted of bathing in the magnificent ‘Szechenyi Hot Thermal Baths’, to drinking Palinka Plum Brandy at the Christmas markets to tucking into the best Hungarian Goulash and ‘Egri Bikever’ =’Bulls Blood’ Red Wine over Christmas Dinner!
Then we travelled to Zagreb, Croatia to walk, eat and drink ourselves around yet another wonderful city!
Then finally, we spent New Year’s Eve in Ljubliana,in beautiful Slovenia to start a New Year in spectacular fashion, by the Triple bridge over the river, surrounded by people and Christmas markets (Yes, still going!) watching the Fireworks explode over the Castle, whilst drinking Gluwein! It was the best ever!
